Space Exploration Sci-Fi for Kids and Young Adults
Write a young adult or middle grade science fiction story with the theme of “space exploration.” The entire universe is your canvas; write about the future with rockets, robots, lasers, and FTL so that kids fall in love with sci-fi!
This is not meant to be a military sci-fi, but an adventure story in space meant for kids. Try and write for that audience and you'll succeed in this challenge! Here's a note on what middle grade (MG) and young adult (YA) fiction is by Lisa Yoskowitz, editor at Disney-Hyperion Books:"...middle grade books feature pre-teen characters in situations of interest to 8-12 year olds, and YA novels feature teen protagonists in situations of interest to teen readers. The best kind of books leave room for crossover to an older, or sometimes slightly younger, audience. YA and middle grade books should speak to their respective target audience, with an accessible voice that truly speaks to the reader and doesn’t talk down to them.”
